Tua throws 6 TD’s in stunning comeback win over Ravens

Tua Tagovailoa had the game of his career on Sunday, throwing six touchdowns, as his Miami Dolphins pulled off a stunning comeback win away to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Fins were down three scores, (35-14) with twelve minutes left to go in the fourth quarter before the third-year QB threw four touchdowns in quick succession to complete a comeback you’ll likely never see again.

Tagovailoa found his college teammate Jaylen Waddle for the game-winning TD with 14 seconds to go, completing a performance that out-shadowed 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson, whose 142.6 passer rating was the second best of any QB in a game this season.

Jackson’s Ravens got out to the best start possible as WR Devin Duvernay opened the game with a 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Miami put together a nice drive to hit back with an instant reply, but it was brought to a halt after the Dolphins QB was intercepted by Baltimore S Marcus Williams, after his throw into double coverage was batted into the air.

Sunday’s home team made it all the way to the one-yard line, going on an eighteen-play drive that lasted over 10 minutes after the pick, but couldn’t punch it in.

The Ravens QB fumbled a dodgy snap by rookie center Tyler Linderbaum, giving Miami the ball back having held it for over 30 real-time minutes.

After the turnover on downs, Miami levelled the score at 7-7, Tagovailoa finding Waddle for the first of his two scores on the day, before Baltimore bounced back straight away, Rashod Bateman on the very first play of the drive, going 75 yards for the touchdown.

Jackson later connected with Mark Andrews for a one yard touchdown, before A Tua interception was punished by another quick strike TD from Lamar, this one to Demarcus Robinson, which closed out the half, the score sitting at 28-7.

Tagovailoa found Mike Gesicki for a score to cap off the first drive to start the second half, his best throw of the game, over a defenders head to the back of the end zone.

A punt from both teams then followed before a spectacular 79-yard rushing touchdown from the Ravens’ dual-threat QB put his team back up three scores. 35-14 Baltimore, bringing the 3rd quarter to a close.

River Cracraft, who’s slowly becoming a reliable inside option for the Fins connected with his quarterback for the first of four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Miami didn’t have to wait long for another chance to score as Elandon Roberts stormed through the Ravens’ offensive line on 4th&1, getting a stop and creating another turnover.

Within 90 seconds the Dolphins had made it a one-score game, Tua connecting deep with Tyreek Hill for a 48-yard touchdown.

Josh Boyer’s defense then stepped up again, this time a three and out, to give McDaniel’s offense a chance to tie the game.

Three plays later it was a tied ball game at 35-35, after a massive coverage bust from Baltimore left Hill, the fastest player in the league, wide open for a 60-yard TD.

The home team could only manage a field goal on the following drive, leaving Tagovailoa and the Dolphins with just over two minutes on the clock to get a game-winner.

An impressive play call from McDaniel, choosing to run when you’d least expect it, created a 28-yard chunk play from Chase Edmonds, putting the Dolphins seven yards from victory.

After an incomplete pass to Jaylen Waddle on first down, there were 23 seconds left on the clock, resulting in about three plays left to find the end zone, four tops.

Tagovailoa would only need one though, this time finding Waddle, after recognising that Hill was double covered on the right-hand side, moving to his left to create time for Waddle to get open for the touchdown.

What an absolutely sensational comeback, we haven’t seen anything remotely like that since 2010, the last 711 possible opportunities ending in defeat.
